AMAZING THINGS

I used to scroll Instagram to see what my friends were up to.

Now it's primarily to see funny memes, sports highlights, and amazing things.

As soon as I see one worth sharing, I quickly share it with some friends that would find it interesting.

I don't share things I haven't seen and I don't share things with folks I don't know.

I see great things and quickly share it with folks I know.

Something similar is happening in Matthew 28.

MATTHEW 28:6-7

Two of Jesus' disciples (Mary & Mary) are visiting the tomb of Jesus to pay their respects.

Their visit is interrupted by and angel that says this in 28:6-7:

6 [Jesus] is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’

The resurrection of Jesus is worthy of a few things:

  1. Go quickly and see the move of God for yourself
  2. Go quickly and tell your closest friends

This was initially how news of the resurrection of Jesus spread - no newspaper outlet, no tv, no social media. It was friends telling friends.

COME AND SEE + GO AND TELL

Jesus would soon appear himself to the women, the apostles, and hundreds of others. Since then people have been coming to see Jesus (investigating the empty tomb) and going and telling their friends - Jesus has risen.

It's important to note that any and every business would tell you the best business growth is referral growth - it's friends telling their friends about this new restaurant, that great new movie, a great new coffee, etc.

The resurrection is no different.

No amount of slick marketing, cool services, or targeted social media ads will ever do what a friend telling another friend about the resurrection will do.

As we lean into the Easter season, consider reflecting on the resurrection of Jesus afresh and telling a few of your close friends about it.
